Due to unhygienic conditions an average of 21 children a year were dying from infections unrelated to cancer. For this reason the Bridge of Life became the implementing partner with the U.S. and Italian government to create a new ward. The new ward has a child friendly space with playrooms, tvs, vcr, outdoor terrace and two sanitary air icu rooms. The mortality rate has been greatly reduced as a result of this action and the overall moral of children, their families and the hospital staff is been completely altered.
