A RELATIVELY SMALL AMOUNT OF MONEY CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE
In the town of Drohobych, one and a half hour drive south of Lviv, there is an oasis of safety and love.
This is “The Oranta Home”. Oksana Datsiuk has been the Director of this Government Home for 15 years. The 20 children who are currently living here (13 boys and 7 girls) have parents who the courts have concluded are currently unfit to care for the children. Some are alcoholics, some are drug addicts, some are in prison and some are dead.
The home is fully staffed in a village setting with plenty of space for fun and education. The city provides only food and salaries but unfortunately has no budget for repairs nor reconstruction when necessary.
The community joins together and provides the labor when small donations are used for materials.
When we arrived, we saw numerous areas of reconstruction that were not completed due to the lack of funds.
We agreed to purchase all necessary tools and materials so that all repairs and reconstruction could be completed.
The Community and Staff quickly agreed and in the following weeks all was completed by a caring group of Ukrainian women, men and young adults.
It was our pleasure to help make this a success.
