A FAMILY MEMBER GOES TO THE COMBAT ZONES
For more than 25 years, my faithful 1997 Toyota 4Runner has served me well. It started its journey in Houston, Texas, then on to Boulder, Colorado.
In 2006 the Toyota began its life as a humanitarian. It traveled by ship, from Houston to Bremerhaven Germany and then by land to Belgrade, Serbia and on to Kathmandu, Nepal.
The Toyota finally returned to Boulder and provided support to the Boulder Police Department and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Department.
Now a new chapter begins. The Toyota once again boarded a ship and once again went to Bremerhaven. This time however, the Toyota traveled to Lviv, Ukraine.
In Lviv, the Toyota was fitted with a new set of emergency lights and sirens. It was refitted with a better suspension system and the supercharger was modified.
It was painted Army Green and was equipped with camouflage netting to be used when it is resting between times of action.
Our Toyota will next travel to Dnipro in the East. Here, it will join our other vehicles and provide transport for TacMed.
This is an all-volunteer team of Doctors, Nurses, paramedics and EMT who perform extractions and provide emergency combat medicine for wounded civilians and the military.
We will miss the Toyota but know it is moving on to an important new life.
We wish the Toyota the same as we wish all who serve near the front lines.
We wish that it stays safe and well cared for by its comrades.
