Through our Ukrainian friend, Lyuba Kyzik, we learnt about an orphanage in the Lviv region that needed help. 

 

The official name of the orphanage is:

CHILDREN'S HOUSE "SUN"

Full name: MUNICIPAL INSTITUTION "ZAPORIZHZHIA REGIONAL SPECIALIZED CHILDREN'S HOUSE" SONECHKO OF "ZAPORIZHZHIA REGIONAL COUNCIL." 

 

The Federal Government is spending the majority of its money and donations on defense. There is little left for the citizens. The Regional Governments all over Ukraine are trying to find help and they have the power to permit all help they receive on a Regional level with no delays.

 

There were numerous orphanages located in Easter Ukraine. Each day the bombs came closer and closer as many apartment buildings, hospitals and schools with no military connection came under attack.

The decision was made to consolidate several smaller orphanages and move the smaller children as soon as possible and as far away as possible.

Members of the staff who know these children also decided to stay with the children no matter where they were relocated.

 

The "Sun House" was created in an old building complex in the Lviv region.

The regional government somehow managed to get enough money to create the dormitories in a good condition, but there was very little money left for anything else.

Currently there are 96 small children ages 2- 6 years old who live in the "Sun House" and 55 even younger children who are expected to arrive soon, a total of 151 children.

 

There are many current needs for this building complex to provide for these children, however the most critical needs at the moment were updated electricity and commercial clothes dryers. 

While we were in the USA in June 2022, we sent Roman, a member of our new Ukraine team, to the site. He is a professional builder and he is a licensed electrician. Roman  sourced two 15kg industrial dryers in Poland, purchased and drove them across the Polish-Ukrainian border to the orphanage.

Roman and his team solved a very critical electrical issue which was affecting the wash- dry area as well as the commercial kitchen and then installed 2 industrial dryers.

HRH Crown Princess Katherine of Serbia and her charity LIFELINE helped us with solving this very critical issue.
